Introduction

As a busy mom with ADHD, I’ve always struggled with executive function—planning meals, cooking, and staying on top of my nutrition has never come easily. I’d start with the best intentions, but the demands of daily life, especially with kids, often left me feeling overwhelmed and undernourished. Can you relate?

For many of us, especially moms juggling work, family, and everything in between, prioritizing our own nutrition feels like one more thing on a never-ending to-do list. That’s where supplementation has become my lifesaver.

My Journey with Supplements

When I first started exploring supplements, it wasn’t because I didn’t value real, whole foods. I believe whole foods are the foundation of a healthy diet. But realistically, getting the perfect balance of nutrients every day just wasn’t happening for me.

As someone with ADHD, executive function tasks like meal planning and prepping often feel like climbing a mountain. I’d either forget ingredients at the store, run out of time to prep meals, or opt for quick, less nutritious choices because they were convenient.

Adding supplements and nutrient-dense shakes to my routine changed everything. They became my backup plan—the safety net that ensures I’m nourishing my body even on my busiest, most distracted days.

Why Moms Benefit from Supplementation

It’s not just those of us with ADHD who struggle—being a mom is hard enough on its own! Between school drop-offs, sports practices, and everything else we do for our families, it’s easy to skip meals or grab something quick and not-so-nutritious.

Supplements like daily vitamins or nutrient-dense shakes make it easier to fill the gaps in our diets. What I love most is their convenience. I can whip up a shake in under a minute and take it with me while I’m driving the kids to practice or running errands. It’s a portable solution that helps me stay on track without adding more stress to my day.

The Case for Supplements in a Busy World

While whole foods should always be the goal, let’s face it: in today’s fast-paced world, eating perfectly isn’t always realistic. That’s where supplements can help almost everyone—not just busy moms or people with ADHD.

Whether you’re:

• A college student surviving on late-night snacks,

• A working professional navigating long hours,

• Or someone who struggles with specific nutritional deficiencies,

…supplements can be a practical way to bridge the gap between your nutritional needs and your current habits.

What I Use and Love

For me, it’s all about simplicity and quality. My go-to is a daily shake that’s packed with nutrients. It’s portable, filling, and delicious, which makes it easy to stick with. I also incorporate a multivitamin to cover any gaps I might miss during the day.

These small additions to my routine have made a huge difference in how I feel—better energy, improved focus, and less overwhelm about whether I’m getting the nutrients my body needs.

Final Thoughts

If you’re struggling to meet your nutritional needs—whether because of a busy schedule, a neurodivergent brain, or just the chaos of life—don’t be afraid to explore how supplements might help. They’re not a replacement for healthy eating, but they can be an amazing tool for those of us who need a little extra support.

Your health matters, and sometimes, finding what works for you is the best way to take care of yourself and your family.
